Obituary for Edward James Knox Jr.

Print
Edward James Knox Jr. was born in Atlanta Georgia on August 14, 1938 to Edward James Knox Sr. and Lizzie Mae Knox. He departed this life on September 2, 2018.

He joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church at an early age, attended Sunday School and was a member of a quartet.

After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1956, he married his sweetheart Mary Louise Harris, his wife of 60 years, and to this union, two daughters comprised this family.

He was employed with Crest Screen Process where he was honored as a talented printer, and with the United States Postal Service where he was awarded numerous times for dedicated service and superior performance. He retired after 34 years in 1999.

Red, as he was affectionately called, was a gregarious person who never met a stranger and he had lifelong friends.

In spite of being stricken with the devastating effects of childhood polio, he was an avid golfer and played in tournaments and on the senior circuit. The golf course was his second home.

Survivors include his devoted wife Mary Louise Knox; two daughters, Kim Jackson Amis and Stephanie Joy Knox; two grandchildren, Brittney N. Jackson and Justin A. Amis; great granddaughter, Kennedy E. Jackson; sister, Miriam Knox Hill; niece, Alita Knox; and other relatives and friends.
