Obituary for Linda Dale Turner

Print
Linda Turner was born October 23, 1951 to the late Robert Tennie and Geneva Evans. Linda was the first born of this union. She leaves behind her twin sister.

Linda was educated in the Atlanta Public School System, graduating from Fulton High School. She then began singing and writing. During her teen years, Linda loved writing and performing her music and poetry. She would perform a song that she wrote entitled “Tease and Run”, with her band at various clubs in Atlanta. She went on to write and publish four poems during her lifetime.

While in rehearsal with her band, Linda met the love of her life, Lamar Turner Jr. The two dated and were married on July 25, 1968. To this union three children were born: Corey, Durand, and Quenton.

Linda worked various jobs during her lifetime. Some of her places of employment include Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Sears Roebuck and Co., and also as a security guard during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Following the birth of her third son Quenton, Linda decided to become a stay at home wife & mother.

Linda loved going shopping and travelling. She enjoyed long rides, spending time singing, writing, concerts, theatrical performances, and fine dining. She loved spending time with her husband “Mar”, and her sons. Linda enjoyed every moment she spent with her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her loving and outgoing personality. Linda would give her last dime to a person in need; and would welcome with open arms anyone with nowhere to live, including dogs. Linda will truly be missed by all.

Linda entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 20, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty years, Lamar (or “Mar” as she affectionately called him); three children, Corey, Durand, and Quenton; daughters-in-law, Peaches, and Shannon; grandchildren, Rico, Indiya, Jafa, Durand Jr., Corey Jr., Corell, and Carson; mother, Geneva; sister, Brenda; four nephews, six nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.
