Obituary for Sampson K. Adofo

Print
Sixteenth of May 1948, in an enchanting town called Abetifi, Kwahu in Ghana West Africa, A revolutionist and a game changer was born, God gifted one of his Angels upon us. Honourable Kofi Koranteng Adofo may your beautiful soul rest in God's perfect peace.

Life according to Kofi Koranteng Adofo “Life is an egg, if you lose it that is life. If your parents take you to school, that’s life. Life is fragile and delicate, so its imperative to take care”. Maya Angelou, a civil right activist, author and life teacher who was one of daddy’s favourite author quotes “If you don’t like something change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude” Daddy did just that. Daddy’s mission in life was not to merely survive, but to thrive: and to do so with passion, humour and style. This attitude earned daddy many accolades, most recent being the Martin Luther King recognition at the community centre.

To the Ghanaian community, he was a teacher, mentor, activist, master of ceremony and a leader. To Jamal and I, A BREATH OF FRESH AIR and a WARRIOR. Daddy was an uncomplicated soul in a world that is so complicated, but he was determined to live out his purpose and legacy.

Daddy navigated through this life by creating solid, deep relationships with families, individuals and the Ghanaian community at large which is reflective of today’s burial fit for OHENE (KING). His tremendous sense of direction in life compelled him to retire back home, to Ghana where he would utilise resources trying to bridge the gap between the mentality of our people. Daddy lived his purpose when he would educate young people to live their best lives, by having sense of greatness, high self -esteem, culture and positive identity. Daddy was honest, fierce, unapologetically opinionated, iron cast strength and a lover of life which will later see him through suffering and difficulties. God protected and held daddy’s hands through his kindness and joy, therefore he lived beyond all his painful sufferings in the end. and Gods gift that was our father. Our gentle giant is gone.

Daddy had many titles under his belt, his greatest title of all was a FATHER. The proud father who would take enormous pride in visiting his son on campus, the father who would mend his daughters broken heart by playing his favourite jazz music, the father who would rejoice at the site of his son, the father who would encourage his daughter to be a butterfly, the father who gleefully invites his grandson to the Aquarium where he volunteered his precious time. DADDY WE THANK GOD FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL SOUL, REST IN GOD’S PERFECT PEACE.
